Past Events
March - We rode our bikes along the Lady Carrington Drive in the Royal National Park. A very enjoyable peddle, although the green tree snake gave the brakes a good test. After the ride we walked the Forest Path track but unfortunately the leaches were waiting and hungry.
Easter in the Mountains - This year we stayed at Kahane. It is a great lodgge and a perfect destination forr our group - easy access, good parking and for the young at heart- no stairs. SLOPES and the Park held several Back to Perisher events over the weekend - a fun run to the Pass, guided walks and the Great Perisher Duck Race - lots of fun for all. We organised several walks includin The Porcupine, Davies Hut via Snowy Adit, Rennix Gap, Illawong Lodge. Our usual dinner meal arrangement for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Easter is a Bring and Share smorgasbord format and again it worked very well with a great selection of casseroles, quiches, pies, home made pizzas - thanks to everyone for a great effort.
May - On a beautiful Autumn day. 25 SASC walkers met at Kissing Point for a walk along the Parramatta River to Drummoyne wharf. Lots of interesting parks and water views, lunch in the grounds of the old Gladesville Hospital and a quick trip back on the Ferry Cat completed a great day. Thanks Ron for the planning.
COMING UP
August - West Head with Ron Giles Note the location and leader have changed
August/September- Nordic Week at the Pass. Join us for a week of XC skiing out to the untracked parts of the park - no guaranteebut you will have a great time.
September - We are heading for the Ru:ined Castle - a classic Blue Mountains walk.
October - Camping weekend on the South Coast. Ring Bob Sims for location details - hopefully the whales will again arrive on schedule.

The annual SASC XC Bus Trip still has a couple of seats available. We can still manage 2 couples or a few singles.
If you are interested or you know some who is then ring Ron McCann or Bob Sims ASAP. If required, we have comprehensive trip notes for any first timers.
The cost this year is $300 (Bus from/ to Sydney plus lodge accommodation in the Mountains).

Ben Ricketts Environmental Preserve is 2 hours south of Sydney on the Illawarra escarpment, 8 km west of Jamberoo Village . The three self-catering self contained cabins have pillows, blankets and doonas, single bunks and a double sofa bed. Cabin 1 sleeps 6, 4 single bunks and a double futon bed. Cabin 2 sleeps 7, 4 single bunks, a single bed and a double futon sofa bed and good for young families. Cabin 3 sleeps 4, 2 single bunks and a double futon sofa bed. Cabins are smoke and pet free and rubbish must be taken home. New Rates from 1/10/2009. Bookings are essential.
