Captain's Report by Phil Friedlander

The long-range forecasters are confident that there will be good snowfalls this season, particularly in July and August. Hopefully the snow conditions will be good for you when you are booked at the snow this year. The Club Championships at Thredbo will be held in conjunction with KAC this year and there has been a good level of co-operation between the clubs to ensure a good race week experience. Over the last few years Thredbo Resort has been very helpful in providing the Club with a good race environment and the races should be well supported. Our Thredbo lodge filled up early with racers but if any member still wants to stay at the Lodge and race, it is worth phoning the booking officer to see if there are any late cancellations. There are also a number of members who have indicated they will be attending from Jindabyne and other accommodation within Thredbo. You don't have to be staying in the Thredbo Lodge to complete, all SASC members are eligible. We will also be joined in the races by members of Dulmison Ski Club.

I remind all club members that there will be a training session organised by Thredbo Race Dept on Wednesday, 4 August 2010 at Thredbo and all Club members are welcome to join in. There may also be training organised for Monday and Tuesday with KAC and if you wish to avail yourself of this training, please contact me closer to the date for confirmation. The Club Championship races will be held on 5 and 6 August 2010 and incorporate Giant Slalom. Slalom, Super G and Special Super G. We are hoping to again hold a traditional cross-country event on Friday Flat and members should bring their cross-country equipment. A Race Week party will be held by KAC on Thursday night with an Underbelly theme. Our party will be held in conjunction with the Friday evening meal with a mask and/or mad-hat theme.

The Thredbo InterClub Team will be selected shortly and we are hoping that this team will be very competitive. It is also usual that one or two places are made available in the team to Club members who have good results at the Club Championships in the days leading up to the InterClub.
