Kahane Lodge Rehabilitation Project
Thank you to members who have already contributed to Kahane site rehabilitation.
Unfortunately the survival rate of last summer’s flowering plants was less than expected, possibly due to the dryer than expected autumn and feral deer who took a liking to the new garden plants. The heath plants have taken well with only 2 of 30 not surviving winter.
The plants were checked in November with many of the plant guards needing to be reset after being damaged by deer or extreme wind.
Thanks to NPWS for providing plants, guards etc. for last summers planting.
We are looking for helpers on 17-19th January to mow around the lodge, weed garden and new heath plants, re-mulch, reset guards, and prepare ground for the next planting scheduled in March 2025.
Families are welcome, some tasks are suitable for children. If you can help please email Rod. Peile at rod.peile@bigpond.com

Final (4th) Stage of the Snowies Alpine Walk is now open
Plan a walk now!!
The 4th Stage is a 12km section from Perisher to Bullocks and was opened in December, enjoy fantastic views of the Thredbo Valley and Bullocks Flat. This last stage is constructed from elevated grid, paving stones and gravel. Allow plenty of time to experience the best of this walk. If you are walking end to end it is helpful to have a vehicle at the finish to pick up your drop off vehicle.
See NPWS website for project information and the December 2024 Update.
